Lactobacillus acidophilus is the bacteria used for producing lactic acids.  Many yogurt manufacturers have added Lactobacillus acidophilus to there yogurts because it helps restore normal bacteria levels in your intestinal tract

Rod shaped bacteria

Are part of the Lactobacillaceae family

distributed in sour milks, cheeses, and yogurt

          (the rod shaped dark things around the cell)

Ismar Isidor Boas- German gastroenteritis that first described lactobacillus acidophilus

it is heterofermentive

it ferments lactic acid

Many scientist are debating how L. acidophilis reproduces.

Concidered a  good bacteria
